The SQL Server Trainer role is located in the Training team working on a combination of training (and development occasionally).
The business team works on a Strategic development basis, usually on a weekly iteration cycle. Business manager collect and document requirements and each iteration and present these to the Directors at the weekly planning game. Trainers estimate these stories and proceed to training over the forthcoming iteration, attempting to meet or exceed their estimates and obtaining sign off by the end of the iteration.
Type of Person we need
A professional trainer, you have accumulated experience in the training of SQL technologies for a large organisation, knowledge of other technologies is an advantage. You keep yourself up to date with the technology market. These attributes coupled with your understanding of the organisation’s systems strategy and architecture
You thrive in a pressurised environment that demands hands on training. Your strong development skills enable you to formulate, design and deliver effective training within short timescales. In addition, you pride yourself on delivering high quality exercise through a healthy concern for standards, methods and attention to detail. You present information and ideas clearly and succinctly, and you produce concise and relevant documentation tailored technical audience.
You keep yourself up to date with the latest technologies and best practices, and you have a working knowledge of training practices. These attributes coupled with your understanding of the organisation’s systems strategy and architecture enables you to create sound training for the students.
Responsibilities
The individual for this position must have strong and wide technical experience, be proactive on identifying and progressing towards dynamic training, and have a strong Object Oriented background.
Documentation: Help create and maintain accurate and useful documentation on all designs, models, developments, training materials when necessary
Training: Ensure system knowledge is communicated effectively to other faculties.
Teamwork: Work as an effective and positive member of the team adapting to changes in priorities and requirements positively as necessary.
• Deliver functionality of business strategy on a fortnightly basis based on approved technology. Measured by weekly meeting with team and PM. Tasks to be recorded, sized scheduled and tracked.
• Make recommendations to improve training methodology.
• Should have prior experience in delivering trainings on SQL Server 2005/08 administration and development track both.
• Should have excellent communication and presentation skills
• Should have completed either of the certifications MCT, MCSE, MCP, MCTS.
Preferable with prior experience in delivering trainings to corporate clients mainly into IT Sector
 Be an excellent communicator with well developed inter-personal skills
 Be willing to share knowledge and best practice with a variety of people (fellow developers, analysts, faculties etc)
 Be able to build strong relationships with students – generating their confidence
 Have good business acumen – being able to understand challenges for a business domain training processes
 Apply rigour and discipline to personal work and act as a role model for others to do the same
 Come to clear views and is intellectually and personally sure of own ground
 Be committed to and passionate about the successful delivery and will not (within reason) allow anything to stand in the way
 Have the highest standards of integrity and personal behaviour
 Salary and incentives not a constraint to the right candidates
